Dennis Tennis Serving Love Empowering Youth with USTA Florida Foundation Grant
Dennis Tennis Serving Love, which is part of the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) program, is making a significant impact in underserved communities through their free tennis clinics, aimed at providing youth with access to tennis fundamentals, sportsmanship, and valuable life skills. Recently, their efforts were amplified with the support of a USTA Florida Section Foundation Equipment Grant.
The Dennis Tennis Serving Love School Engagement Initiative focuses on offering youth in low-income communities’ exposure to tennis and its benefits. By partnering with Broward County Public Schools in low-income neighborhoods, they have been able to break down barriers to tennis participation and promote physical activity for young kids.
Thanks to the Equipment Grant from the USTA Florida Section Foundation, Dennis Tennis Serving Love was able to expand its reach and impact. They successfully hosted four tennis clinics at three Broward County public schools, engaging over 250 youth. In addition to tennis instruction, they distributed 86 tennis racquets along with various tennis-related giveaways like water bottles, drawstring bags, hand sanitizer, and tennis balls.
One notable aspect of Dennis Tennis’ approach is its inclusivity. Recognizing the importance of catering to diverse needs, Dennis Tennis Serving Love focused on engaging with students with special needs. “We were able to work closely with the schools professionally trained staff and therapists to employ adaptive tennis drills and games to create an enjoyable tennis experience for these youth,” Dennis Tennis spokesperson said.
Through their dedication to promoting tennis, Dennis Tennis Serving Love embodies the mission of the USTA Florida Foundation. By providing access to tennis equipment and instruction, they are empowering youth, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and building stronger communities. The grant from the USTA Florida Foundation is helping Dennis Tennis continue to be a great provider for tennis across South Florida and in Broward County.
To help aid these grants, you can donate to the Foundation in multiple ways. The USTA Florida Foundation “Play Tennis” License Plate is a great chance to show your tennis pride, with 90% of all proceeds going to the Foundation. Also, in honor of USTA Florida’s 75th year as an organization, the Foundation has a goal to raise $75,000 for 75 years!
