EleVen by Venus Williams, USTA Florida Foundation Partner for ‘Believe in Tomorrow’ Buy One, Give One Campaign to Benefit Youth Tennis Players
The USTA Florida Foundation, the giving arm of the USTA Florida Section, has teamed with tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams and her lifestyle brand EleVen to provide tennis clothing to National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters and other youth tennis providers in Florida.
Tennis fans can outfit a future generation of athletes and contribute to the “Believe in Tomorrow” campaign through March by purchasing items from the EleVen website where, for every item purchased, EleVen will donate an performance outfit for a youth player in need.
“We are very fortunate to have a partnership that has just begun with EleVen and Venus Williams, who has such a deep-rooted belief in the youth of tomorrow who participate in after-school tennis programs,” said USTA Florida Foundation executive director Alexis Johnson. “In February and through the month of March, EleVen has been doing their version of a ‘bogo,’ where you can buy one and get one — but this is buy one and give one. So far they’ve donated 600 items of clothing from purchases. If you’re interested in joining the movement they’ve got information on their website at https://elevenbyvenuswilliams.com/pages/believe-in-tomorrow about how to get involved, and we are just beyond excited to be working with EleVen.”
The USTA Florida Foundation will distribute the clothing, first to NJTL chapters and then to other youth provider organizations, throughout Florida. The NJTL network features more than 250 nonprofit youth development organizations across the U.S. that offer free or low-cost tennis and education programming to more than 160,000 under-resourced youth each year.
“What better way to empower young women during Women’s History Month,” said Laura Bowen, USTA Florida executive director. “What Venus has done in the world of tennis for equal pay and other advancements — she is just a giant in our industry. To have this opportunity for young girls and women in tennis in the NJTL network to get clothing from Venus, someone who they look up to, is so inspiring.”
Williams, also the chief executive officer and founder of interior design firm V Starr and plant-based protein company Happy Viking, launched EleVen in 2007 to give women quality activewear that allowed them to feel great and perform better.
