Who: Donn Davis
Board Position: President
Hometown: West Lawn, PA
What drew you to continue your time as a USTA Florida Foundation board member?
As in the past couple of Board terms, I’m honored to be a member of
the Foundation Board as a way of giving back to the game that has meant so much to me over
the years. I hope that what we do can mean the same to a young person who has been touched
by the Foundation work in the future.
Who has inspired you in your life?
I’ve been inspired by many people in many different ways over
the years. Some have been a major inspiration and some have just impacted me in some small
way. Those close to me … family, close friends, and close associates … inspire me on a daily basis.
I’m particularly inspired by those that attain success against significant odds.
What about USTA Florida Foundation’s mission and work really motivates you?
I’m particularly motivated when I see how we have impacted people with tennis who would otherwise not have had the opportunity to know the sport that we love so much. Tennis is the sport for a lifetime and
I hope that we inspire those that we touch to think of it that way!
What do you want to accomplish in your next two years on the Foundation Board of Directors?
I’d like to see our revenue expand in such a way that we’re not as reliant on the license plate
revenue which are restricted funds. Expanded unrestricted revenue would allow us to broaden
our scope of assistance, while keeping in mind our mission and strategic direction.
If you had one extra hour of free time in a day how would you use it?
I’d spend it with my family, doing whatever we chose to do with it.
Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button on your life?
This is an interesting question. I definitely think a rewind button. I pretty much always spend some time analyzing events and how they could have been different and better. Sometimes it would be nice to take
advantage of opportunities that develop during an event that were not apparent prior to an
event.
If you could visit any place in the world where would it be and why?
We’re campers so we’d love to visit as many National Parks as possible and I’d also love to be with my wife when we visit places she’s always wanted to visit in Europe.
Would you rather be without internet for a week or without your phone?
I don’t talk as much on my phone as I probably should but I use the internet on a daily basis so based on that analysis, my phone as long as I can have my iPad & MacBook Air.
