USTA Florida Foundation Hurricane Relief Grant Helps Rebuild Beachview Tennis Club

If you rebuild it, they will come back. That was the vision of Toni Halski, owner of the Beachview Tennis Club. The facility was affected by the 2022 hurricane season, resulting in catastrophic damage.

However, the USTA Florida Foundation stepped in with its Hurricane Relief and awarded the tennis facility a $62,000 Hurricane Recovery Grant to help Sanibel’s most active tennis club get back to normal operations.

According to Halski the USTA Florida Foundation’s generous award has allowed our facility to complete all repairs and replace everything that was lost in the 13-foot storm surge delivered by Hurricane Ian. “For that I am forever grateful,” Halski said.

Beachview Tennis Club was built in 2000 and was immediately awarded the best new tennis facility by the United States Tennis Court Builder’s Association. The club features 5 clay courts, a fully stocked pro shop, and elevated seating areas for excellent views of all the courts. Thanks to the USTA Florida Foundation, Beachview was able to bring all of these amenities back to the island.

“The USTA Florida Section Foundation is pleased to support Beachview Tennis Club with a Hurricane Relief Grant,” USTA Florida Foundation Board President, Elizabeth DeConti said. “Donations to our Hurricane Relief Fund have made it possible for the Foundation to support Sanibel Island and other communities in Florida which were damaged in last year’s hurricane season, and it’s already clear that the 2023 hurricane season will be equally difficult for our state.”

On average the club has approximately 100 year-round members and thousands of tourists, who enjoy the facilities each year. Beachview also has 6 men’s and women’s teams which compete against other teams in USTA Florida Adult Leagues.

Beachview plans to give right back to the island community with a charity Tennis tournament November 11-12, 2023 to benefit the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation. Contact the facility to learn more!

“We congratulate Beachview on the success of its rebuilding effort, and we look forward to cheering on the players at Beachview for many years to come!” DeConti said.
