USTA Florida Foundation Launches New Wheelchair Grant in First Cycle of 2020
By: USTA Florida Foundation Staff
Beginning today and running through Apr. 30, 2020, the USTA Florida Section Foundation will be accepting grant applications to help expand community tennis programming, fund new programs, and provide equipment to organizations serving children and adults throughout the state.
Grants from the USTA Florida Section Foundation, the giving arm of USTA Florida, offer funding for youth tennis programs, adaptive tennis programs, community tennis programs in economically challenged areas, along with facility assistance in the renovation, refurbishment and building of quality public tennis facilities.
New for 2020, the USTA Florida Section Foundation is proud to now offer wheelchair grants to eligible wheelchair tennis programs that have a current USTA organizational membership, a broad base of community support, meet a compelling need in the community, and align with the Foundation’s priority funding areas. Grants can go toward supporting on-court instruction, wheelchair focused instruction/training for providers, tennis equipment, tennis wheelchairs, and general program support.
Grant Priorities include:
- Programs placing an emphasis on wheelchair offerings that attract new players
- Programs made available for under-resourced wheelchair athletes in economically challenged communities
- Youth wheelchair tennis programs
- Adaptive wheelchair tennis programs
“I’m thrilled we can finally unveil this exciting opportunity for grassroots tennis programs here in Florida,” said Alexis Johnson, Executive Director of the USTA Florida Section Foundation. “We heard from providers about what they truly need and we’re ready to support them with this brand-new wheelchair grant offering.”
